Temporomandibular Joint Pain (TMJ) or Disorder (TMD) causes jaw stiffness, pain, clicking, and difficulty chewing. Treatment includes manual therapy, dry needling, and personalized exercises for relief.

Your Physical Therapist will complete a comprehensive Initial Assessment. Time will be provided to discuss the findings in detail, allowing an opportunity to establish realistic, attainable, and measurable short and long-term goals. 

Your physical therapist will discuss individualized treatment options, and the best course of action based on the identified deficits. Treatments might include Manual Therapy, Dry Needling, modalities, and graded Exercise prescription.  

Targeted Assessments are performed on every follow-up visit to monitor your progress and the plan of care is modified accordingly. 

Expect to receive a progressive Home Exercise Program on every visit. 

  • Inability to open mouth or stiffness with jaw opening
  • Inability to take a strong bite or pain with taking a bite
  • Inability to or pain with chewing food
  • Headaches
  • Consistent clicking with opening/closing mouth
